To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs what recent estimate she has made of (a) the cost of a withdrawal of Forestry Commission Wales from Forestry Commission Great Britain and (b) the costs of any such withdrawal that will be incurred in (i) Wales, (ii) England and (iii) Scotland.
James Paice
The Minister of State, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
The Welsh Government have recently announced their intention to form a single environmental body. This is a matter for the Welsh Government, but we will be looking to ensure that there is an orderly transfer of work, and that the Welsh Government fund all costs associated with the change, the details of which have still to be determined.

Secretary of State was originally the title given to the two officials who conducted the Royal Correspondence under Elizabeth I. Now it is the title held by some of the more important Government Ministers, for example the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs.
