To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs what meetings (a) she and (b) Ministers in her Department had with the European Commission on the Western Waters Scallop Effort in (A) 2009, (B) 2010, (C) 2011 and (D) 2012 to date; what was discussed at each meeting; and whether the conditions for seeking (i) a reallocation of effort from Area VI to VII and (ii) increasing effort in Area VII were raised at each meeting.
The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, my right hon. Friend Mrs Spelman, and I meet with the European Commission regularly. Fisheries management issues form part of those discussions as necessary.
