To ask the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change what discussions he has had with the Environment Agency on the regulatory regime for the toxicity level of chemicals used in hydraulic fracturing.

My officials are in involved in a regular dialogue with all of the UK environment agencies, and other key UK regulators, on issues relating to unconventional gas exploration and hydraulic fracturing. Among other things, such discussions have included the chemicals used or proposed for use in Cuadrilla's hydraulic fracturing operations.
