To ask Her Majesty's Government whether there is any legal provision to allow expatriate Scots to participate in the forthcoming referendum on Scottish independence.

The Government have launched a consultation on how to provide for a legal, fair and decisive referendum on Scotland's constitutional future. The Government have sought views in this consultation on eligibility to vote in a referendum. The Government have put forward their view that the franchise should reflect that used to elect the Scottish Parliament and the referendum in 1997.
