To ask the Secretary of State for Justice what steps he is taking to ensure that his forthcoming proposals for reform of the probation service do not place the public at risk.
The first stage of our work to look at the future shape of probation services in England and Wales is nearing completion. Throughout our work safeguarding public protection has been one of the key criteria when considering any possible reforms.
We expect to announce our emerging findings early in the new year and will then consult widely.
