To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills if he will make it his policy to require universities to have in place a policy on academic conflicts of interest; and if he will make a statement.

The Government do not intend to put in place any new regulations on universities regarding the treatment of conflicts of interest. This issue is already addressed in a number of ways including grant funding terms and other governance arrangements in the university, although a number of institutions do bring these together in a single institution-wide policy.
