To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether any new European Treaty will be subject to a referendum.

Under the European Union Act 2011, any Treaty change which transfers competence or power from the UK to the will require a referendum of the British people. The Act clearly defines what is meant by a transfer of competence or power.
