To ask Her Majesty's Government what measures they intend to take to ensure that all horses in the United Kingdom have up-to-date identification documentation.

Domestic horse passport legislation is enforced by local authorities, which take a risk-based approach to enforcement in their areas. Horse passports are intended to ensure the safety of meat for human consumption, and the Food Standards Agency is responsible for verifying that all horses accepted for slaughter for human consumption are correctly identified.
