To ask Her Majesty's Government whether consideration has been given to the awarding of a Diamond Jubilee Medal to members of the Armed Forces who served during Her Majesty's reign but are no longer in service.
The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal will be awarded to serving and volunteer members of the Armed Forces and the emergency services to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Her Accession on

The answer is not totally accurate, there is no real tradition as other than the QGJM the criteria has changed each time. It is not beyond the politicians to establish a new tradition which many will welcome.
