House of Lords written question – answered on 1 December 2011.
To ask Her Majesty's Government, following the publication of the report on Political Party Finance by the Committee on Standards in Public Life, whether the estimated cost of that inquiry of £445,000 represents good value for money.
The Government welcome the Committee on Standards in Public Life's thirteenth report. It is a valuable contribution to the debate. We remain committed to limiting donations and reforming party funding, and to that end we plan to continue cross-party discussions based on the principles identified by the committee and the Government's reform commitments.
