To ask the Secretary of State for Health when he plans to (a) make and (b) announce a decision on whether to proceed with a new vaccination programme for protection against cervical cancer; and what consideration he has given in making that decision in respect of the need for protection against genital warts.

On 24 November 2011, the Department announced that following a procurement exercise conducted through competitive tendering for the further supply of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, a three-year contract has been awarded to Sanofi Pasteur MSD for supply of Gardasil®. Vaccine from this contract will be used from September 2012. The award criteria used in the evaluation took into account protection against cervical cancer, non-cervical cancers, and genital warts.
