To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how much his Department will spend on staff redundancy payments in the (a) current and (b) next financial year.

HM Treasury does not currently have any plans to introduce a redundancy programme.

Wherever possible, the aim will be to manage any necessary staff reductions within HM Treasury and its agencies through natural wastage at no additional cost.
