To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent assessment he has made of the political situation in Syria; and if he will make a statement.

We condemn the violence of the Syrian regime. President Assad has lost legitimacy and should step aside to allow a transition to an open political system. We support the Arab League's efforts to bring an end to the repression in Syria and are working with international partners to increase pressure on the regime.
