To ask the Secretary of State for Health what measures are being taken to prevent the increase of antibiotic-resistant strains of bacteria.

The Government are continuing to focus their efforts at a national level on monitoring infections, promoting responsible prescribing and use of antibiotics as well as good general hygiene and infection control measures. We are also pushing for concerted action and collaboration at a European Union and international level to address this global issue.
