To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government how many and what proportion of homes in England has an energy performance certificate.

As of 20 November 2011, approximately 6.73 million energy performance certificates had been produced for homes in England that have been constructed, sold or rented out since August 2007. This figure includes some homes for which more than one certificate has been produced. It is estimated, based on the latest estimate for the total dwelling stock (22.69 million in October 2010), that approximately 30% of homes in England currently have an energy performance certificate.
