The Cabinet Office is committed to providing 30,000 NCS places across the country in 2012. Pilots will take place in 95% of upper tier local authority areas in 2012, and providers were partly chosen on the strength of their proposals to recruit the broadest range of young people to participate. The Prime Minister has announced that there will be 90,000 places for young people in 2014 with an ambition to make NCS universally available to all 16-year-olds in future.
