To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent discussions he has had with the Palestinian National Authority on returning to peace negotiations as soon as possible.

We continue to reiterate our calls for negotiations towards a two state solution based on the timetable set out in the Quartet Statement of 23 September. We regularly emphasise the importance of efforts towards a negotiated solution with the Palestinian National Authority.

The UK continues to be one of the principal supporters of Palestinian state building efforts, assisting them to tackle poverty, build institutions and boost their economy.

We will continue to engage with the Palestinian leadership and to reinforce the importance of working towards a two-state solution.
