To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if she will issue guidance to maritime insurers and ship owners on the provision of private on-board security.

Yes, the Department for Transport is finalising interim guidance to UK flagged shipping on the use of armed guards to defend against the threat of piracy in exceptional circumstances. I expect this to be published by the end of November.
