To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills what recent assessment he has made of the state of research in the field of occupational health.

The Medical Research Council (MRC), one of the main agencies through which the Government support medical and clinical research, has not assessed the state of research in occupational health recently. A routine quinquennial review of the MRC Lifecourse Epidemiology Unit, which includes research in occupational health, took place in 2009.
