To ask Her Majesty's Government why they do not support the proposed moving of Heathrow Airport to the Thames Estuary; and under what conditions they would support such a move.

The Department for Transport has not made any recent assessment of the merits of a new airport in the Thames Estuary. The Government have no plans to build a new airport in the estuary.

The Government are developing a new policy framework for aviation which supports economic growth while addressing the environmental impacts of flying. We will consider all responses to the scoping exercise which has recently closed on this issue.
