To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what assessment he has made of the environmental impact of his decision to grant funding for a new airport on St Helena.

A full Environmental Impact Assessment of the proposed airport has been carried out to UK standards and has been reviewed by the Institute of Environmental Management. The reply given on 14 June 2011, Hansard, column 751W, provides a fuller statement on this subject.
