To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what criteria will be used to determine which of the UK Border Agency hubs will be closed in order to meet the target reduction from 70 to 25 as outlined in the Agency's business plan.

Plans for consolidating our network of hubs are predicated on UK Border Agency, Home Office and wider Government objectives.

At the top of these objectives, the criteria used for determining the location of our future hubs are based on the need to "secure the border", and "reduce costs and improve customer service". Hub closures will be targeted and sequenced in locations where they can provide the greatest contribution to the delivery of these objectives.
