To ask the Secretary of State for Defence on how many occasions his Department was subject to cyber attacks since May 2010; and what form each such attack took.

Within the Ministry of Defence (MOD) there are technical, organisational, procedural and physical measures in place to protect against and mitigate the impact of cyber attacks. In 2010, the MOD detected and blocked more than 1,000 potentially serious attempts to infiltrate or disrupt our computer systems, however we do not comment on the specific detail of cyber security incidents or threat assessments.
