To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many officials in his Department were working in its legal section in June 2011; and how many staff were working in the legal departments of his Department's agencies and non-departmental bodies.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO)'s legal department has approximately 70 staff working as legal advisers, support and information staff and maritime policy officers.

Neither the FCO Services Trading Fund nor the Wilton Park Executive Agency have their own legal departments.

We do not hold data centrally on the individual roles performed by staff in our non-departmental public bodies and details could be compiled only at disproportionate cost.
