To ask Her Majesty's Government how many staff have been employed by the Department for International Development in each year since 1997.

The numbers of staff employed by the Department for International Development in each year since 1997 are shown in the table below.

The figures show our Home Civil Servant (HCS) staff and our Staff Appointed in Country (SAIC).

SAIC are employed locally overseas on local terms and conditions, in support of our in-country development activity.
