To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many foreign national prisoners had not been removed at the end of their custodial sentence and were not being detained for immigration purposes in (a) May 2009 and (b) May 2010.

In May 2009 there were 2,483 foreign national offenders who had not been removed at the end of their sentence and were not being detained for Immigration purposes. In May 2010, there were 3,808.
