The four Strategic Health Authority (SHA) Cluster Directors of Public Health have been charged with leading public health transitions at the local level. Primary care trusts and local government are responsible for planning the transition of public health responsibilities. Local transition plans are required to be submitted to SHA Clusters by 31 March 2012. Implementation of these plans will be monitored by the SHA Cluster Directors of Public Health. The Directors of Public Health will report progress against these plans to a joint Department of Health and Local Government Programme Board.
