To ask the Secretary of State for Education what estimate he has made of the proportion of new build and refurbished schools that comply with Government guidelines on the inclusion of sprinklers; and if he will make a statement.

Information is not held on the proportion of new build and refurbished schools that have installed sprinkler systems.

The decision on whether or not to install sprinklers in schools and the assessment of the risks and benefits of installing sprinklers, is a matter for schools and local authorities.
