To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions how many households have received annual housing benefit payments in excess of £50,000 (a) in and (b) outside London in the latest period for which figures are available.
Information on the total annual amount received by individual households is not available. In July 2011, around 150 households were receiving a weekly housing benefit award equivalent to an annualised value of over £50,000. All of these households were in London.
