Home Department written question – answered at on 25 October 2011.
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what the monetary value was of assets (a) seized and (b) frozen under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 in each of the last three years.
The value of cash forfeiture orders and confiscation orders obtained is as follows:
£ million | |||
Cash forfeitures orders | Confiscation orders | Total | |
2008-09 | 39.40 | 216.00 | 255.40 |
2009-10 | 45.96 | 179.03 | 224.99 |
2010-11 | 40.51 | 466.16 | 506.67 |
The value of assets frozen is not held centrally. Restraint orders (also known as freezing orders) can be made against a defendant's property without the need to calculate the monetary worth of those assets.
