These semi-trailers must comply with the road vehicle lighting regulations which require trailers manufactured after 10 July 2011 and with a maximum gross weight exceeding 3,500 kg (ie all trailers within the trial) to be fitted with reflective conspicuity markings on both the rear and sides which comply with relevant European standards.

In addition, trailers must comply with lighting requirements including the fitment of side marker lights and end-outline marker lamps.
