Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs written question – answered at on 24 October 2011.
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make representations to the Government of Bahrain on the subject of human rights.
We have repeatedly raised the issue of human rights with the Bahraini Government and will continue to do so to ensure all human rights obligations are being met. Political freedoms, equal access to justice and the rule of law must all be upheld; these do not run contrary to security, but are integral to long-term stability.
