To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many external training courses staff of his Department attended in the last 12 months; and what the cost to the public purse was of each course.

The Scotland Office encourages all staff to undertake learning and development activities. External training courses may be considered where opportunities are not available through central Government.

The Office does not maintain a central record of external training courses attended. However, £ 12,672 was spent on staff training in the year 2010-11.
