To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills what guidance his Department issues to the Student Loans Company on determining loan and grant settlements for students who have interrupted their studies due to illness.

The Student Loans Company determines loans and grant settlements for students who have interrupted their studies due to illness in accordance with the Education (Student Support) Regulations, which are laid before Parliament each year.

Student Finance England also issues detailed guidance covering all aspects of student support on their HE Practitioners website, including support for students who have interrupted their studies due to illness. This guidance complies with the Education (Student Support) Regulations.
