The Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration was primarily set up to deal with complaints by members of the public, therefore the Government believe that the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) should not be brought within the ombudsman’s remit. Any Member who is dissatisfied with the way in which the IPSA has determined a claim may refer the matter to the statutory compliance officer.
