To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what estimate she has made of the cost of employing civil servants to undertake procurement for her Department in (a) 2008-09, (b) 2009-10 and (c) 2010-11; and what estimate she has made of the cost of (i) employing civil servants and (ii) engaging consultants to undertake procurement for her Department in 2011-12.

The cost of employing civil servants to undertake procurement in the Home Department including its executive agencies is provided in the following table:

Procurement staff has been interpreted to include contract managers engaged within procurement units.

The estimated cost of engaging consultants to undertake procurement for the Department in 2011-12 is £1,033,000.
