The General Affairs Council in September discussed climate change in the context of agreeing the draft agenda for the October European Council.

The EU's position for Durban was agreed at the EU Environment Council on 10 October, at which the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, my right hon. Friend Chris Huhne, represented the UK.

The European Council on 23 October will discuss the EU's position.
