To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what estimate he has made of the cost to HM Revenue and Customs of employing the proposed new anti-evasion and avoidance officers.

These new posts are part of the reinvestment of £917 million over four years, announced in the 2010 spending review. This will see a redeployment of 2,250 staff this year. The annual costs of all the staff being redeployed and recruited in 2011-12 will be about £101 million.
