No formula is needed for the distribution of funding under the new Weekly Collection Support scheme. It is intended that the scheme will operate as a challenge fund, with the amount of money being available to each local authority depending on the content and quality of their bid. As outlined in the written ministerial statement of 10 October 2011, Hansard, column 1WS, up to £250 million will be available in total under this fund and further details of the scheme will be made available in due course.
