To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how much the UK Border Agency spent on translation services in each of the last five years.
The UK Border Agency (UKBA) employs freelance interpreters to provide translation services when interviewing asylum seekers whose English is insufficient for the interview to be conducted in that language.
Expenditure on interpreters incurred by UK Border Agency in the last five years has been as follows:
