To ask the Secretary of State for Justice which local authorities are piloting new ways to share data and increase electoral registration; and when the pilots will finish.
I have been asked to reply.
22 data matching pilot schemes are under way, two of which (Lothian Valuation Joint Board and Renfrewshire Valuation Joint Board) include more than one local authority. These local authorities are testing the usefulness of matching their electoral registers against a selection of public databases to identify people missing from the register or entries on the register that may be inaccurate or fraudulent. The ability of a local authority to provide its data for the purposes of the data matching schemes ends on
The participating local authorities are:
Lothian Valuation Joint Board (City of Edinburgh, East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian)
District of Forest of Dean
Renfrewshire Valuation Joint Board (Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire and Inverclyde)
Borough of Rushmoor
Borough of Wigan
District of Forest Heath
District of Stratford-on-Avon
London Borough of Tower Hamlets
Teignbridge
