House of Lords written question – answered on 3 October 2011.
To ask Her Majesty's Government whether there has been any progress on the issuance of the Arctic Star for those merchant seamen who saw service in the Arctic in the Second World War.
As part of the ongoing review of the rules governing the award of medals, consideration is being given to the campaign seeking further recognition for those who served as part of the Arctic convoys. It would be wrong for me to prejudge the final outcome of the review, and I await its final conclusions.
