To ask Her Majesty's Government whether consideration is being given to introducing a new rank lower than Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George, to recognise those who work abroad for the interests of the United Kingdom.

There are no plans to add to the three classes of the Order of St Michael and St George-Knight or Dame Grand Cross (CGMG), Knight or Dame Commander (KCMG/DCMG) and Companion (CMG). Those who work abroad for the interests of the United Kingdom are also eligible for awards in the Diplomatic Service and Overseas List in the Order of the British Empire. In the Birthday Honours List 2011, 76 such awards were made.
