Home Department written question – answered at on 13 September 2011.
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how much the North Yorkshire police authority has spent in (a) cash and (b) real terms in each year since 1996-97.
While the Government provide core police funding, spending decisions are made locally by the chief constables and police authorities. Data on expenditure are not collected centrally. However, this information is published annually by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA).
