Culture Media and Sport written question – answered at on 8 September 2011.
To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport what the status is of the contingency fund for the London 2012 Olympics.
The Government Olympic Executive publishes quarterly reports on progress towards delivering the Olympic and Paralympic games. These reports include the latest position on the status and level of contingency remaining within the £9.3 billion public sector funding package for the games. The most recent report, published in July 2011, showed that the balance of contingency and other savings in the programme stood at £643.5 million. For more information see:

While we are confident that the programme will be delivered within the £9.3 billion budget, significant challenges remain in the final year before the games. We will continue to publish quarterly reports on progress, including the level of contingency remaining.
