This Government believe that teaching practical cooking to children makes a significant contribution to healthier living. It is not currently a compulsory part of the KS3 curriculum in schools, but the national curriculum review which is underway will advise the government about the merits of making it so. Our proposals for the content of the new national curriculum at each key stage will be published early in 2012.
