To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what estimate he has made of the proportion of persons adversely affected by the removal of the 10 pence tax rate in 2007 who were women.

58% of the individuals whose 2008-09 income tax liabilities were increased by these changes were female.

This estimate is based on the 2007-08 Survey of Personal Incomes, projected using economic assumptions consistent with the Office for Budget Responsibility's March 2011 economic and fiscal outlook.
