To ask the Secretary of State for Health what process his Department follows for the production of regulatory guidance; and how many officials of his Department were involved in the production of such guidance on the most recent date for which figures are available.

The Department circulated the Government's “Code of Practice on Guidance on Regulation, BRE, 2009”, to assist policy officials when producing regulatory guidance.

Information on the number of officials engaged in production of regulatory guidance is not collected centrally and would require disproportionate effort to collate and compile.
