Donate to our crowdfunderCulture Media and Sport written question – answered on 20th July 2011.
To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport what steps the Government is taking to increase female participation in (a) individual and (b) team sports at (i) junior and (ii) senior age ranges.
Sport England has strategic plans to deliver increased participation among women through the Women's Sport and Fitness Foundation (WSFF) which encourages girls and women to participate in sports. In addition to core National Governing Bodies and National Partner funding, Sport England has invested £10 million in an active women initiative. This funding is aimed at helping women in disadvantaged communities and women caring for children under 16.
