To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations he has made to the Turkish Cypriot authorities regarding the recent shooting at the offices of the independent Africa newspaper in North Nicosia; and if he will make a statement.

Officials from our high commission in Nicosia have raised their concern on this issue with a number of senior contacts within the Turkish Cypriot community. I was pleased to see that the alleged gunman was swiftly apprehended by the authorities in northern Cyprus and hope that the correct course of justice will now be followed.
